SCOPE

This is applicable to students registered in Distance Learning (E-Learning) at AU.

TERMS, DEFINITIONS AND ABBREVIATIONS

  • AU: Australian University or the University
  • Distance Learning (E-learning): is a flexible means of education enabling students to have direct control of the time and location through which they progress with their studies. This method of learning enables students to participate electronically in a real-time communication mode with their faculty and classmates. It is an integrative system that uses technology to deliver teaching and learning. E-learning promotes an active and student-centered approach that nourishes students’ skills. The University has a variety of E-learning tools including the electronic materials available in the library.
  • Microsoft Teams: A communication platform used between faculty and students to conduct virtual lectures, meetings, presentations, etc.
  • eduLearn (Moodle): Learning Management System (LMS) to share course material with students, conduct online assessments in various forms (exams, quizzes, assignments, etc.), send official announcements, etc.
  • Respondus Lockdown Browser: is a secure browser that locks the testing environment for taking online tests in eduLearn (Moodle). When students use LockDown Browser to access a quiz or exam, they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, access other applications, or close the quiz until it is submitted for grading.
  • Respondus Monitor: is a webcam and screen recording feature for Lockdown Browser that records students during online, non-proctored quizzes or exams to prevent cheating.
  • LabStats: Used to monitor computer and software usage in campus labs to improve resource availability, planning, and student access to technology.
